Coronet Peak is Queenstown's iconic local mountain, renowned as New Zealand's first commercial ski field, having opened its slopes in 1947. It embodies the energetic spirit of the vibrant resort town below, offering a lively atmosphere with breathtaking vistas across the Wakatipu Basin and surrounding Southern Alps. This destination stands out for its remarkable accessibility, being just a convenient 20-minute drive from Queenstown, and for its pioneering role in introducing extensive snowmaking to the Southern Hemisphere. It also uniquely provides New Zealand's longest ski day, featuring both "First Tracks" for early risers and exhilarating night skiing under the stars.

Throughout the winter months, the mountain offers well-groomed runs catering to all abilities, from gentle beginner slopes to more challenging terrain for experienced skiers and snowboarders. A particularly popular highlight is the opportunity for night skiing, which transforms the mountain into a floodlit playground on select evenings, providing a truly memorable alpine experience. During the summer, Coronet Peak transforms to offer scenic gondola rides, guided walks, and exhilarating mountain biking trails. Visitors can also test their aim on New Zealand's highest disc golf course or simply enjoy refreshments at the on-mountain cafes.

It perfectly suits both spontaneous day trips from Queenstown and extended ski holidays, thanks to its diverse offering of winter sports and engaging summer activities. With its accessible location, stunning natural beauty, and a comprehensive array of experiences, Coronet Peak maintains its appeal as a premier year-round destination in New Zealand.

We think customer service in NZ is great. Polite, friendly and natural.
Here was no different and they were courteous enough too to assist with our holiday issues on the booking.
Highly recommend the trip to the top and the little walk to the summit also.
Many thanks from the 3 of us.

Coronet Peak Recreation Reserve is a fantastic destination for outdoor enthusiasts year-round. In winter, it's a prime spot for skiing, offering a variety of slopes for different skill levels. Come summer, the area transforms into a mountain biking haven, with improving trails suitable for various skill levels (now only for skilled mountain bikers)

So what if it's summer? Come up if you like adventure mountain bike trail ride down the slopes or just sit and enjoy the scenery. The staff service is outstanding.

The views are STUNNING! There were quite a few people up there - even though it was summer. They'd cycled or driven up for various activities. Also, a lot of hanggliders. It was a shame that there wasn't somewhere that was open, selling refreshments.

We went on the first day of good snow. This ski resort was open but Remarkables was closed due to the snowfall. The roads going up required chains and were plowed and maintained regularly.

The snowbus must be reserved in advance and the day before you need to get the MyPass card. Do not wait until the morning of as the kiosks may be down and lines long. Our bus left early from Queenstown.

The ski instructors were helpful and friendly. The rentals at the ski resort were fine but getting them from town the night before will save you time. Due to the number of skiers, the restaurant lines were impossibly long and there were no indoor seats available. We packed in a lunch so that did not bother us.

Despite the number of people, getting a lift did not take long.
