I stayed at Tahuna Hostel for 3 nights, and everything was wonderful. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and gave a very detailed introduction to the facilities and the environment.
The entire place is clean and well-organized. Both the bathrooms and toilets are kept in great condition. The kitchen is fully equipped, and I loved that there’s a 'free food' section where past guests sometimes leave ingredients for others to use.
They also have a laundry room where you can purchase tokens for self-service washing. If you need a hairdryer, you can easily borrow one from the front desk. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended!

The location of the hostel is very strategic, just 1 block away from the city center. The girl at the reception has a great attitude which made me feel at home almost instantly. She told me everything I need to know and even took me to my room and had a little tour of the facilities on the way before handing out the key so I won’t be confused as to where I should go and what facilities are available for me to use.

I booked the 4 queen pod room with kitchenette and balcony , which they also consider as their penthouse, and it’s very spacious and equipped with all the necessary facilities. The pods offer complete privacy and the beds are really comfortable. I had a great sleep during my stay.

Although this is a social hostel, I observed that it is really quiet and there are almost no people in the common area during the day - as everyone is out busy exploring the beautiful Queenstown. This is really a good option to consider when you’re in Queenstown, especially if you’re a solo traveler like myself. Kudos to the whole Tahuna team for a 5 star service.

Excellent location right in town. The pod bed was decent, with a ledge above the bed to put items/plug in. Shower water pressure was strong and temp hot. Parking available for $20/night. There’s a city lot a block away with free parking 6p-8a and then is $3.50/hr during day. Pretty much every shop of note is within 4 blocks of this hostel - very convenient for visiting town!

Great hostel! The Welsh receptionist was very friendly and gave me a nice welcome. He also showed me around the hostel as part of check in, this was appreciated as this approach seems quite rare in hostels these days. Something I also liked was that the rooms have very ample storage - I was able to fit my large suitcase in my assigned locker. The location is very good, only 3 minutes walk to centre of town. It has a great lounge/kitchen area with nice views of mountains.

Great job by the Tahuna team!

Staff are very friendly, chatty and informative! The hostel in at an excellent location close to everything in the city. Areas are kept well maintained and cleaned. Kitchen is very well equipped however it’s missing a few staples like aluminium foil, baking paper, cling wrap, salt, pepper, olive oil etc.
However the upper bunks were a BIG minus. The ladder is quite tall and uncomfortable to climb up and down. My legs got in pain from using it and I’m pretty fit. The sprinklers are also placed in the upper bunk literally above your head which makes you fear that if you touch or hit them you will have water thrown at you.
