Wonderful hospitality and perfectly clean rooms! From walking in to leaving days later you get the same level of care and attention. A small 5 minute walk downhill to Lake Wakatipu to the cafes and restaurants. Such perfect scenery. The pictures do not do it justice! This is our second time staying there for all these reasons and more!

We left feeling quite disappointed with our stay at Copthorne Lakefront. While the staff were always friendly and welcoming, unfortunately the hotel itself fell well short of our expectations.

We booked a Junior Suite, expecting the experience described when we made our reservation. Unfortunately, the room didn't deliver. The advertised lake view was extremely limited; we had to lean over the balcony just to catch a glimpse of the lake, and from our room there was no opportunity to wake up to views of The Remarkables as we'd anticipated.

The corridor leading to our room felt more like the interior of a cruise ship than a hotel, and the room itself was no better. The décor is very dated and in desperate need of an update. For what we paid, it certainly wasn't the relaxing, premium experience we were hoping for at the end of our holiday.

The heating was also frustrating. The wall-mounted heaters were temperamental, leaving the room either freezing cold or unbearably hot, with no comfortable middle ground.

The bathroom was probably the biggest let-down. The shower appeared to be an afterthought—it was extremely small, the silicone was covered in mould, and the shower head sprayed water in every direction except where you wanted it. There was also no exhaust fan, so after every shower the mirror completely fogged up and condensation dripped onto the vanity, soaking everything left on it.

Breakfast was another disappointment. Although it was included in our booking, we stopped eating there after the second morning. The food was consistently cold, and with large tour groups staying at the hotel, accessing the buffet became difficult. On one occasion, the breakfast area was so overcrowded that we simply walked away without eating.

Had we known we could receive a refund, we genuinely would have cancelled the remainder of our stay and booked somewhere else.

The one redeeming feature is the location. It's conveniently situated close to Queenstown and makes getting around very easy. If you're simply looking for somewhere to sleep and don't mind paying a premium for a fairly average room, it may suit your needs. However, based on our experience, we'd recommend spending the same money at another hotel that offers better value and a more enjoyable stay.

Nice hotel. Our room was perfect for us. Nice views, great room service for food. Food was yummy. Reception lady that was working long hours 19th - 22nd June was friendly and helpful. They have laundry room too. Only 1 thing that was different from other hotel stays was, only once during our stay was our used towels replaced with new ones and our and hot drinks/milk topped up. Also not once was our room cleaned or cups replaced with clean ones. Besides that, we had a good stay, thanks 😊

I just had a three day stay here, from 19th 22nd June. I had purposely booked this hotel for a birthday celebration long weekend away, because of the views and closeness to the town centre.

The views from my room were EXCELLENT and beautiful. Sitting in the room I could watch the lake front and stare at the mountains.

Service from counter/reception staff was great and Restaurant and bar staff wonderful. Super friendly and helpful and always willing to help.

Where the review only gets 3 STARS - unfortunately, the rooms. I booked a superior room, which was great - with exception of the following:
1(The bed - This was a King bed, however, it was two singles pushed together, with no real mattress topper - It needed to have a foam or even two, foam mattress topper place on the pushed together beds. Instead, it only had a mattress protector, which is not the same thing. As a result, the middle of the bed was EXTREMELY hard and the two singles extra soft (too soft for me, but some peeps like that).
2) OLD HEATING STYLE- which, while adequate, was not great.
3) HOT WATER - If you wanted to have a shower in the evening, unless you wanted a luke warm shower, then you had to wait until the morning. Even then, you had to turn the dial to hottest setting, and even then, it would go cold and hot over and over, NOT GOOD.
4) Windows in the hotel are not doubled glazed, and for a hotel that is in a cold climate, this is necessary imo.
5) HOUSEKEEPING- I put the sign on my door to have my room made up, when leaving in the morning, came back around 3pm to change, room still not done. Came back after my dinner cruise, around 9pm, the housekeeping had not "made up the room", which should include bed being made, bathroom being cleaned, fresh towels and all surfaces wiped down. This had not happened. Only thing they did was replace the towels, that is it. Very disappointing.

However, hotel is well appointed if you can put up with the faults.

Queenstown was the highlight of our New Zealand Trip, and this hotel made it even more unforgettable. The location is beautiful — close to the lake and town, with amazing views.

We are incredibly grateful to Duty manager Bella. She was so professional and welcoming, helping us with local activity recommendations, restaurant bookings, and giving us wonderful advice on how to plan our trip.

After we checked out, we accidentally left behind our wedding ring — an absolute nightmare during a honeymoon. But Bella called us straight away and truly saved our honeymoon like an angel. We cannot express how thankful we are for her kindness and care.

Thank you so, so much, Bella. We will never forget it.
