The journey was arranged perfect. We started at the RealNZ Visitor Centre and the coach took us to Lake Manapouri where we transferred to the first cruise. Then the coach took us over the Wilmot Pass, where we changed our transportation type and stepped into a second cruise into the Doubtful Sound. It was overall an adventure in itself with winding snowy roads, lots of green covered by snow, calmer waters in the inner waterways but lots of currents when you reach the Tasman Sea. The surroundings with all the waterfalls and snowy/rainy trees were such nice and such pristine. A special moment was when the skipper stopped the engines asking the crowd to get out to the deck to listen and enjoy the sound of the fiord.
It was a nice daytrip with a very caring guide and bus driver. Every transfer was nicely coordinated and organized.
We made this tour during the winter season. I do wonder how different it would be in the summer season…? (Haven’t seen any of the notorious sandflies… 🤞🏼😆)
