Sherwood Queenstown

First time here after a recommendation from a family member.

Food was nice with plenty of flavour, and portions very generous.

Ordered the flat bread, octopus, tartare and the mushroom dish to start.

Mains were the fish (butter fish) which was perfect size for sharing with 4pc, steak cooked med-rare, Brussel sprouts, twice cooked potatoes and the salad.

Nobody was hungry after this meal.

Worth a visit

We had our wedding night dinner here, and it was the perfect way to end such a special day. Every dish was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. The service was warm, attentive, and made us feel so welcome throughout the evening. It’s clear why this restaurant has earned a Michelin star!!

Absolutely delicious dinner! We went with a group of 7, and it was a great experience. We opted to go family style at our waitress’s prompting and it was a great call. The fish entree and the crudo were my personal favorites. The cocktails were also awesome, very good amaretto sour!

Strongly recommend to anyone who wants a fancier meal in Queenstown. Great ambiance for a date or more intimate meal.

We had our wedding reception at Sherwood Queenstown and had the most incredible experience. We honestly can’t recommend them enough for your next event, stay, or even just dining at the restaurant.

From start to finish, everything was seamless. A huge thank you to Leah and the team for making the entire planning process so easy and completely stress-free. On the day, we felt so looked after- nothing was ever too much trouble, whether it was a drink, a check-in, or making sure everything ran perfectly behind the scenes.

The wedding reception itself was absolutely beautiful. The venue looked stunning, the atmosphere was perfect, and the food was genuinely to die for - so many of our guests are still talking about it.

We also stayed overnight and the hotel experience was just as amazing. The room was spotless and comfortable, with thoughtful touches like a bottle of wine and a lovely note waiting for us. We had the best stay and the comfiest sleep.

Every part of the experience exceeded expectations. We couldn’t recommend Sherwood enough – for weddings, events, dining, or a stay. Everything was amazing from beginning to end.

While I did not stay at the hotel, I visited the Sherwood restaurant for dinner, and the experience was genuinely delightful. For those driving, parking is completely stress-free; the hotel lot has plenty of unreserved spaces available right on the grounds, so you can park anywhere with ease.

Stepping inside from the chilly Queenstown air, you are immediately welcomed by the comforting heat of a real wood fire. It sets a beautifully subtle and cozy atmosphere, making the space feel incredibly inviting.

For dinner, we opted for the 3-course 'Leave it to us' set menu. As light eaters, we are often hesitant about set courses, but the pacing and portions here were absolutely perfect—satisfying without feeling overly heavy. Every dish was beautifully prepared and showcased their commitment to quality ingredients.

The beverage pairing was mostly a highlight. We enjoyed a fantastic selection by the glass, including a delicate Kahiwi Pinot Noir, a crisp Deep Down Blanc, and a complex Kenzie Orange wine. If I were to offer one small piece of constructive feedback, the NON No3 Toasted Cinnamon & Yuzu non-alcoholic wine felt a bit watery on the palate and lacked the depth I was hoping for. A touch more concentration in its flavor profile would elevate it to match the high standard of the rest of the menu. Nevertheless, the warm service and excellent food make this a spot I highly recommend for a relaxed, quality dining experience.
