The food is absolutely fantastic but it’s 3 stars because the toilets both upstairs and downstairs smell so bad that you can even smell urine in the dining area.
We had to eat dinner in the balcony despite it was cold outside, because eating upstairs was like eating in the toilet.

We came back again on Sunday at 12pm for Sunday roast and realised it doesn’t matter if it’s day or night, the toilets still stink up the dining area.

I recommend starting an incentive scheme for your staff members to get an extra $20 to clean the toilets. It’s not a joke. The state of the toilets are probably too horrific for your staff members and it’s reasonable if they feel that their hourly wage doesn’t justify cleaning the toilets as well.

The food here really is 10/10 but please look into this matter

Loved Pog Mahones! We had dinner there twice during our honeymoon in Queenstown because the food is just that good. It’s also great value for money considering a lot of other restaurants in the area are well and truly overpriced.
The atmosphere is awesome and the service is great as well.
We went to quite a few highly recommended and expensive restaurants for dinner and Pog’s was just as good, if not better than some of them.
Highly recommend the Irish pie, stew and the spice bag.

I had the ribs which were banging, but my partner had the pie and that was even better! Get the pie. Quick service at the bar, great atmosphere and good food. A little hard to find a table but turn up an hour early and have some drinks, then get a table when you can.

Visiting from Australia and was looking for quick dinner. Cause of the cooler weather we thought we'd get something hearty. I had the Pog beef pie and wife had bangers and mash. We both enjoyed our dinner. My pie hit the spot and wife thoroughly smashed her bangers and mash. There was live band and they sounded amazing. I thought it was playing through the speakers. The pub itself had great atmosphere and quirky. However its really busy and many people came through and had to wait for a table.

Stopped by around 3 PM when it was quiet. Ordered and paid at the bar — everyone was friendly and welcoming. We loved everything we tried: the prawns, the Irish stew, and especially the Hazed and Confused Cloudy IPA. Even my mom, who’s quite the picky eater, enjoyed every dish. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town!
