Spent about 3 hours here, which felt like a good amount of time to explore the park and see the kiwi.

Take note of the timing for the kiwi encounter. The enclosure is very dark, as kiwis are nocturnal. No bright lights or mobile phone lighting, and let your eyes slowly adjust to the darkness. This is a rescue and conservation facility focused on giving the kiwis the best chance of survival, so don’t expect them to dance, perform or pose for you. Just enjoy watching them behave naturally.

The staff were informative and pointed us towards the most direct route to the kiwi encounter. There are also many other native birds and avians around the park. A giant sequoia tree near the centre of the park is hard to miss. There is also a separate kiwi enclosure that can be visited outside the encounter timing.

The park is quite hilly with plenty of slopes, so wheelchair users may find it challenging. For accessibility, don’t enter from the cable car entrance. There is a side entrance near the ticketing area. Press the button near the gate for access.

Parking can be a challenge as the car park beside the park is reserved for the pre-school. There is a small gift shop selling toys, apparel and honey.

Overall, good value and well worth a visit if seeing a kiwi is on your New Zealand itinerary.

It was a joyful experience to enjoy and learn about birds and reptiles and bees of New Zealand. Especially the kiwi encounter and conservation show. There’s a lot of knowledge learning. I enjoyed seeing the kiwis learning about them, the kea parrots and kaka are amazing. And other kinds that has been there in the park. Also they have toilets and cafe shop to rest. Must buy kiwi stuffy with real voices of kiwis. Good for kids and accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.

Interesting park with a few animals to see. The kiwi is in a dark room where photos aren’t allowed. If you have a packed schedule, I wouldn’t recommend visiting—Queenstown has plenty of more exciting activities. On the plus side, there’s free honey tasting.

A place to visit especially for the nature lovers. We spent about 3 hours enjoying the nature of the park. For bookings made online, do remember to save the proof of purchase which contain a QR code which this required to be presented at the counter. we were then given wooden tokens with the stipulated timings for the Kiwi Encounter. Upon entering, you can already visit the Kiwi House, entering a dark room with minimal lightings. It does take a minute or two for the eyes to adjust to the dim space. We were lucky to be able to spot an active Kiwi walking around the space, and even heard the bird call too. It was so surreal to see an actual Kiwi in person. The whole park is well maintained, especially the trees and pathways around. We were in awe about the majestic pine trees. We got the locally produced honey and plushies home. Thank you for creating this conservation space which made our first visit to Queenstown so memorable.

A wonderful and educational experience centered on wildlife conservation. We felt incredibly lucky to catch sight of four different kiwis during our visit! The passion of the staff is evident, and learning about the work they do to protect New Zealand’s native species is fascinating.

Top Tip: Be sure to check the daily schedule for the conservation shows and kiwi sightings as soon as you arrive. Timing your walk around these events is essential to making the most of your day and ensuring you don't miss the highlights. A must-do for nature lovers in Queenstown.
